Austin Smith profile

Austin Smith joined Kestra Investment Management in 2026 as a Trader – Overlay Trading, where he supports the execution of tax-aware trading strategies and overlay portfolio management across Unified Managed Accounts (UMAs). In this role, he manages account trading with a focus on tax efficiency, facilitates multi-account allocations, and develops testing procedures to support enhancements to the trading platform. He also plays a key role in automating and refining existing processes while improving consistency and operational efficiency across trading workflows.

Prior to joining Kestra, Austin spent four years as an Overlay Trading Analyst at LPL Financial, where he contributed to the execution and optimization of large-scale trading programs. During his time at LPL, he played a key role in piloting the BlackRock trading platform and enhancing the efficiency of LPL's PWP, MSMD, and OMP trading and review processes. He also supported the development of new traders through training initiatives. He began his career at Wells Fargo, where he built a foundation in financial services.

Austin earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Utah.
